Specialist support for children with feeding difficulties

Kids Feeding Specialists acknowledge and recognise that mealtimes can be difficult and we’re here to provide support and guidance on your feeding journey.

We are a unique multidisciplinary service that understands how difficult it is to find specialist support for children with paediatric feeding disorders which led to the establishment of Kids Feeding Specialists.

Our vision is to provide a safe space where children with feeding differences can develop a love of food whilst optimising their nutritional status within their feeding limitations.

Our Mission

To work as a collaborative multidisciplinary team of specialists to optimise the clinical care and developmental outcomes for infants and children with a paediatric feeding disorder in Australia through advocating for early diagnosis, education, support, and research.

A safe space for you and your child

Feeding challenges in infants and children can be an area of great stress for parents, as well as their children, and we are committed to providing a safe and non-judgmental space for families to discuss their experiences, concerns and wishes for their children.

Our goal is to educate and inspire families to better understand and support their child’s feeding difficulties whilst fostering enjoyable and rewarding mealtimes with the whole family.

We engage in a child-focused approach and consider the entire family unit whilst developing plans and optimising nutrition and the environment for growth and development. We believe that everyone should have access to clinical support that is truly neurodiversity affirming.

Testimonials

  • I am based in Western Australia and when my 6yr old Autistic son was diagnosed with a very complex eating disorder I felt overwhelmed and lost after being rejected by every feeding clinic in WA and by the health care system so I turned to kids feeding clinic. They agreed to do zoom calls and I was instantly connected with an amazing feeding therapist who made me feel heard, supported and had a wealth of strategies and knowledge to help our family.

  • Simone is the most professional & dedicated human being I have ever come across and have nothing but amazing things to say. It’s rare to come across people who genuinely care about what they do. She told me from day one she would not leave my side and she didn’t.
My son’s case was VERY complex, he is 4 and a half years old, has autism and out of nowhere just completely stopped eating food and drinking water.
No one in the NT (where I live) was able to help me.. seeking help interstate was my last resort as I had reached out to every resource available here and was getting nowhere.. my son was literally living day to day. Out of desperation I googled “complex feeding clinics Australia.” And by the grace of god I picked up the phone and spoke to Simone.
Simone managed my son’s case and without her I don’t even want to think about where we would be today.
My family and I will forever be grateful for Simone, Amanda and Mearelle.

  • My grandson has Autism, ADHD, ARFID, and Anxiety. Through his extremely limited diet he has several very serious vitamin deficiencies which are affecting his bones and his eyesight. Through his ill health we were advised to see Simone Wright (Paediatric Dietitian). She has been an absolute life saver for my grandson and my sanity. She has worked tirelessly to ensure he has all the supplements, and vitamins required to improve his health and keep him well. She is very caring and patient and understanding. I would recommend anybody with any Feeding differences to contact Kids Feeding Specialists.

  • Simone was absolutely amazing with my 8 year old daughter. We had been to see many specialists before without any success but when we went to see Simone and implemented her feeding suggestions and ideas around medication, my daughter is like a different child. She has put on weight and has more energy. Simone listened to her complex history and then tackled the issue in a practical and common sense way. I am so grateful and would recommend her to anyone who has a child who is struggling with nutritional issues. She is also very kind.

  • My son has been seeing Kids Feeding Specialists for feeding therapy. I cannot be more happier and thankful for meeting these two amazing women who helped and continue to help my son go from extremely averse to food to now exploring food with his mouth.

I almost gave up and never thought I’d see my son put food in his mouth. Within weeks of seeing them my son started to show interest with his oral feeding.

They are very supportive and attentive to each child and their individual needs. They catered for my son very precisely to his specific needs.

Thank you Kids Feeding Specialists, you are work of magic.

  • Simone, Amanda and Mearelle have been miracle workers with my little girl. For the first time I felt like my concerns were listened to. With their support my girl (18 months old) has successfully been weaned off her NG tube and I can’t thank them enough.
